Alpha Fire Company Needs Your Help!!

Earlier this morning at approximately 1105 hours, Alpha Fire Company was dispatched for a residential structure fire at 34 North Queen Street in Littlestown Borough. Initial crews arrived on-scene and encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions at this address. After the initial first few minutes we would soon realize the residence was that of one of our own members.

Mr. Raymond Boyd is an active volunteer firefighter at Alpha. He lived with his mother at the residence. Raymond, his mother, and the family dog were fortunate enough to escape the blaze. However, numerous cats perished in the fire. The structure suffered significant damage to the interior of the house. The residents lost all of the contents.

Alpha Fire Company is spearheading a drive to assist our fellow firefighter and his family in their time of need. A GoFundMe page has been established to provide financial support. It can be found here: http://www.gofundme.com/sp24qqtc. In lieu of an online donation, anyone can drop off cash or gift cards of any kind (Walmart, Target, Visa, etc.) at the fire station. We kindly ask you put your monetary or gift card donation in an envelope marked “Attention Raymond Boyd Drive”. You can place your envelope in the mailbox on the front of the station at 40 East King Street Littlestown, PA. We are also collecting items for the family. Clothing is one of the biggest needs at this time. Julie wears a medium shirt and size 7 pants. Raymond wears a medium shirt, medium/large shorts, and 28-30 pants. We would like to collect clothing for different seasons as we wind down summer time and head into fall. Julie has also recently been preparing for the arrival of her granddaughter. Numerous baby items were lost in the fire including a crib, stroller, diapers, and numerous girl’s infant clothing. We’d like to help replace these items too. Alpha will also be collecting house furnishings since their living room and kitchen sustained the most damage. If dropping off these items please call ahead to ensure someone is there to receive your items.

It should also be noted that this young man once again put aside his personal ordeal to assist others in need. Not less than 4 hours after losing his home to a fire, Raymond was responding on a fire engine to assist another Littlestown resident with their house fire. It is times like these that the fire department rallies around one of our own to show them they are not alone in their ordeal. We are kindly asking the community and other emergency service providers and organizations to do the same as we come together for Raymond and his family.
