Public FIRE Prevention and Life Safety Education

Every day Fire Department personnel respond to fire and medical emergencies in our community.  It is the goal of the Fire Prevention and Life Safety Committee to furnish the community with information to help prevent life threatening emergencies.

Fire and life safety events can be avoided by following safe practices.

To contact us for more information or to arrange a tour email our Fire Prevention Committee: Tours@westminstervfd.org

Recalled Products

We all like to save money on those once loved products we spot at a yard sale or second hand shop.  To be fire safe we can check if this product has been recalled because of fire hazard or health threat. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has information on products that you may wish to purchase. Appliances, toys, tools, are just   a few of the items on the website:

House Numbers

If you had an emergency today could we find You!!

Day or night house numbers help us find you. We recommend your house number be at least 4 inches high and reflective. Simple plain styles are easiest to read. Grouped mailboxes do not tell us where you live. So when Fire, Police or EMS services are trying to locate you look at your home from our position.

Can we find the driveway to your home and are your home numbers visible to emergency workers? If not help us help you and replace your house numbers with larger more visible numbers.
Car Seats

Car seat safety can protect your family if you are involved in a vehicle crash.  Cars seats must be properly installed to be effective.  Car seat safety inspections are regularly held in the county and are free.  Contact the Carroll Health Department for the next session.
Meeting Place

Do you know why this is important?

If your family had to evacuate your home for a fire or a hazardous event -natural or man made where would you, meet?

Decide now so there is no confusion later.  Pick a place everyone is familiar with, a mailbox or outside the garage for a home event.

If it is a larger event, pick a friend or relatives home a few miles away.
