Thank you for showing interest in the Westminster Junior Fire Dept. (WJFD). Before filling out this application, please keep in mind the following information.

  • The Junior Fire Dept is a volunteer organization; members do not receive pay for their time.
  • Applicants are eligible for membership three months prior to their twelfth birthday through the age of eighteen.
  • Applicants will be interviewed prior to being voted on by the junior membership.
  • Applications will not be accepted and applicants will not be voted on in the months of August and September.
  • Applicants must reside in the Fire Department’s first run response area, or reside in our neighboring company territory who do not sponsor a Junior Fire Dept.
  • Applicants intending to enroll in the Emergency Services Technology Program offered by the Carroll County Career and Technology Academy (VoTech Center) must have a complete physical prior to class starting date. In addition, student must have a FIT TEST for breathing apparatus before classes begin. The physical examination is the responsibility of the student, and must be completed in a timely fashion so that the physical is reviewed and approved by the fire department physician. The fire dept will conduct the ‘Fit Test’.
  • Applicants must bring a current scholastic report card to the interview.
